Friday Fragments: Zombies, Family Pets & Sleep Deprivation

Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post.

Friday Fragments are the brainchild of Mrs.4444 and you can find more at Half Past Kissin' Time.

On Tuesday, I dropped Sam off at school and realized that I actually like dropping him off and going into his school.  I guess the main thing I actually DON'T like about it is putting Danny back into the car, because he usually is fussy that he just got out and now I'm making him get back in.  I like being there, seeing him off, just having a presence in the school even if it's just for a minute or two.

Okay, who else is watching The Walking Dead?  The fall finale was this week, and it was FAN. TASTIC.  Really, I think that the fact that it's a show about a zombie apocalypse that makes me bawl like a baby is a great testament to it's awesomeness.  I can't wait for it to come back.

So, my Mom told me yesterday that when my sister went off to college, they went to this parents orientation meeting the day we were all dropping her off.  Apparently, there are two things that happen very frequently to college freshman that upset them.  The first was called the "Turkey Drop" by the person leading the class - this is when the kid returns home for Thanksgiving break and is dumped or breaks up with their significant other.  The second is that their dog dies.  It makes sense if you think about it - people often get a dog for the family when a kid is around 4 or 5, and 13 or 14 years later that is one old dog.  It makes total sense, but it's a weird fact to think about!

I re-joined Weight Watchers yesterday.  My Mom is paying for my membership for a while as my birthday present, which is very cool.  I am looking forward to starting again, I am trying to let go of a lot of feelings I have about the 30 lbs I have re-gained in the last year.  I'm looking forward to walks and kind of want to find a place where I can swim at least a couple of times a month.

Justin was gone from Mon - Thu night this week at a training in Seattle.  The nights were... restless.  Bedtimes kind of sucked, and there were a lot of wake-ups in the nights.  Wednesday night, Danny was just UP from 2:15 to 5:40.  I am very tired, and hopefully will get to sleep in a bit tomorrow.

I am only 3 books away from completing my goal of reading 50 books this year, and very excited!  It looks like I'll finally make it again after a couple of years of not making it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

You're the second fragger to comment on Walking Dead.. I'll have to add it to my TBW list for when it makes it to Netflix :)

I have been hearing a blogger or two as of late commenting on Walking Dead. Can't see it hear in Honduras. Good luck with Weight Watchers. I am finally getting serious about exercise and diet too.

Wow I can't believe to find another zombie-lover in here! I'm soo happy!! hehe! That show is totally awesome! By the way, regarding your question if who character I am, I don't know, I turned out to be Rick. I don't know, I'm not as calm and good decision-maker as he is! I am kind of a nervous freak probably the first one to get bitten hahah! But I sure will shoot those freaky walkers lol. And the finale broke my heart! I did really cried haha! Good thing to know I'm not alone! Have a great day and have fun with your little boy. I do the same thing the first time my kids went to school too. Or it's just me, I'm too emotional to see them off. And best of luck for your weight loss program :)

I have had a lot of my students go through the turkey drop - it is a real phenomenon.

I'm not a zombie lover. I just can't do it. Other weird stuff, yeah, zombie's no.

I was up last night too. Chick had a nightmare, the dog has been sick and was whining to go outside (at 3 am, its so cold at 3 am....), and I woke to feeling like someone had shoved sharp knives down my throat.

So I'd like sleep, soon, fast and lots of it.

Here's hope we both get some soon!

I wasn't a fan of The Walking Dead. Hubby found it on Netflix, because we can't afford cable {I see it as a blessing, though!}, and he loved it... I'm just not a zombie person. Never have been.

I love dropping my kids off at school, too, because they're in a private preschool right now and it is required to walk them in every day. My daughter's going to love me next year when she goes to Kindergarten and I'm still walking her in. She's too independent, though. =)

Wow, 50 books??  That is amazing!  I need to make a goal like that, except smaller.

Good luck with WW.  My good friend did it and dropped a bunch of weight.  I cheated and looked at her recipes and points stuff.  I have had some success with the Curves recipe book and eating habits.  I probably should get back into that again after the holidays :-(

My dog died while I was away at college.  I didn't have anyone to dump me ;-)

I am so jealous of you reading! What a cool birthday present from your Mom.  I like it!  I hope you get more sleep this weekend!

Funny, well, not really, our dog did die while my sister was away and it took my mom a really long time to tell my sister...she did tell her before she came home, though!

Good luck with the WW!  I'm a perpetual drop out. It seems each time I join I'm trying to lose 10 pounds... and my goal weight is the weight I was at the last time I joined and was trying to lose 10 pounds... I finally lost 20 on my own this year.

Congrats on the books... I know I've done that, but I got too busy to keep track!

Congrats on reaching your goal to read all of those books. Here's to reaching your WW goals, too! :) How nice of your mom to give you such a supportive gift.

Those college bits--Very interesting. And sad.
