Friday Fragments are bits and pieces of your week that are usually brief; too short for a stand-alone post, but too good to discard. Collect humorous observations, "Heard" items, and other small gems and put them together in a Friday Fragments post. Friday Fragments are the brainchild of Mrs.4444 and you can find more at Half Past Kissin' Time.

~ I know that I don't actually have OCD, but sometimes the things I am compelled to do make me wonder if there isn't something just a TAD bit off about me... case in point. Michael Ausiello at EW published his list of premiere dates this week. And I, in my usual fashion, created this list of shows I'll be checking out. The ones in black are ones I already watch, the ones in green are the new shows I'm going to try. I am especially excited about No Ordinary Family, The Event and Undercovers.

~ We have an exciting week coming up. Monday night I'm taking Sam down to Seattle for a sleepover at my sister's house just me & him. I can't wait. Then Tuesday we're going to see my best friend and her kids and hang with them all day. This weekend we're going down south to NorthwesTrek and then to stay the night at my Mother-In-Law's house. Fun!
~ For anyone else who shops @ Lane Bryant, they are having a HUGE sale right now. Everything in the store is 40% off except Spanx. EVERYTHING! Go there.
~ Finally went and signed back up for Weight Watchers on Wed. More about that next week.
~ So, maybe in the news you've heard talk of the controversy over the "Ground Zero Mosque." It's all over the place, and I don't understand the opposition. This week, Michelle at Burgh Baby wrote a great post about the controversy. I particularly loved this:
"It is not a "Mosque" any more than a YMCA is a church (we all remember that "YMCA" stands for "Young Men's Christian Association," right?)."
I just don't understand why people continue to fail to see the difference between members of a religion and extremists. Not all Christians are Fred Phelps. Not all Mormons are polygamists who take advantage of the system and mistreat women and children. NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE AMERICA HATING TERRORISTS. Dude, it's a small sect of the larger religion. And it's not representative of the religion as a whole.
According to Wikipedia, the new Park 51 Community Center will include "a 500-seat auditorium, theater, performing arts center, fitness center, swimming pool, basketball court, childcare area, bookstore, culinary school, art studio, food court, September 11th memorial, and prayer space that could accommodate 1,000–2,000 people." Yeah, that sounds really crazy... oh wait... If you'd like to read some more about this community center with actual information, and the perspective of a Muslim American woman, check out Park 51: On Building a Mosque Near Ground Zero at Blogher.
~ I went and got Mockingjay on Wednesday and I can't wait to start (and finish) it. I know once I get into it I'll probably have it done in a day or so. SO excited!
~ I discovered this video through a post earlier this week at Chookooloonks. You might want a Kleenex. Watch it. These are the people who inspire me in my marriage.

It's beautiful.

I agree with you 100% on the "Ground Zero Mosque." And I say that as a person whose family was deeply affected by the tragedy, though not through the actual death of a loved one. The opposition just baffles me. What happened to the principles of religious tolerance?
Completely unrelated to FF, but I accidentally hit a button while I was trying to comment and it took me the goodbye post you wrote about your cat. I can't help but feel like I was kind of meant to see it, as my 17-year-old cat is very quickly deteriorating right before my eyes. Just in the last two weeks things seem to have gone from bad to worse, and I know it's only a matter of time before he leaves us. This cat has been with me since right before my 12th birthday, through a 600 mile move away from family and friends, through my parents' divorce, through college and marriage and baby.
Thank you so much for writing that post last year, it's just what I needed to see.
wow you are a serious TV watcher.
That New York (I don't even want to use the other term) Mosque "issue" is just politics and fear mongering. My first reaction was, hey this is a zoning issue for NYC I don't live there what's the big deal.
I don't know if in your extensive TV viewing you ever watch "The Daily Show" but Jon Stewart really dug into this issue maybe because he from NYC. Just the other day he had the mayor on to talk about it. The mayor is OK with it.
I don't think I have the nerve to write down all of my TV watching. I think I'd be horrified LOL
Kristin - The Goat
Looks like you'll be glued to the TV and DVR during premiere week! :)
I had no idea they were making a new Law & Order series. I guess you learn something new everyday *L*
I don't understand the outrage about the community center either. It makes me feel a little sad to be honest.
I'm looking forward to Bones, Criminal Minds and Castle. Also, the main guy for the new Law and Order series looks creepy.
PS: I totally agree about the Mosque think. I heard this quoted and feel like it really strikes true. If Americans are attached by Muslim terrorists and you have a problem with Muslims, you are focusing on the wrong word.
Yeah, I have to admit I'm not THAT excited about the casting for the new Law
& Order. BUT, I wasn't sure about Jeremy Sisko and Anthony Anderson at
first and ended up loving them as a pair. So, we'll see.
I think you said it wonderfully - you're right, we ARE focusing on the wrong
word!
I totally understand! I have made a conscious choice not to be horrified,
but sometimes I get close...
LOL! Love, and I mean, LOVE your TV watching schedule. I want to bump chests with you right now and chug a beer. Although why are you not watching Mad Men?! Sunday nights?! AMC?! WHY IS NO ONE WATCHING MAD MEN? I NEED SOMEONE TO GOSSIP WITH ABOUT MAD MEN!
I hadn't heard about the controversy about the Mosque. Completely agree with your comments regarding it. We humans have a tendency to try to understand tragedy by putting others, or even concepts, into neat, little black and white boxes that we can pin point and blame and use to rationalize horrible occurrences. If only life were that cookie cutter.
