It's the Little Things

On days when Sam wakes up at 6:15 in the morning crying and feverish and won't go back to sleep, and then wakes up to his Grandma after his nap and wants nothing to do with her and she has to call us and we have to come home from the movie we were watching (luckily after being refunded our money by the nice theater manager), and then he cries more when we get home, then we have to cut his bath short because the water is turning brownish because the hot water heater needs to be cleaned and he won't eat much.... well, on those days it's the little things that can keep us going.

Little things of late...

  • If Sam has a waffle or a granola bar or any other food, and decides he doesn't want it, he will generally bring it over and hand it to me instead of leaving it in some random place to rot.
  • Looking up and seeing Sam walking around in his giant black glasses.
  • What could be more awesome than Sam doing things that we didn't even know he could do? Holding an elephant toy and making an elephant sound! Climbing up the plastic 'rocks' on the playground and going down the big slide all by himself! Doing the movements to the Itsy Bitsy Spider when you sing it to him!
  • If you get hurt, Sam will come and give you a kiss.
  • Sam likes to sit still and have entire books read to him now (his FAVORITE book is Go Dog Go).
  • The way Sam turns in a circle right in front of me before settling in to cuddle with me.
  • Mischevious, sideways glancing smiles.
  • Giggles.
Yesterday I took Sam to Cornwall Park. Reason #685 why I like Bellingham, WA: We took a walk through the park with Sam in his stroller and were surrounded by trees, ferns, and moss. I couldn't even tell that I was in the city, two minutes from the mall. No traffic noise, it smelled great, it was sunny and fresh and awesome.

Also yesterday, we went to a playground and Sam went down the tube slide and ran around and had fun. I'm trying to figure out how to upload pictures from my cell phone.

Hey Rachael! My Sam loves the same book...Go Dog Go, and will also sit and let me read the whole book! That's awesome! Oh...and the cell phone pic thing...send it as a Pic text to your email...then download it to your computer...then you should be able to download it onto here. Love you guys! Hope to see you at a play group soon!
