The nominations for the Golden Globes were just announced, and I started thinking about all of the movies I've seen this year. I decided, screw the Golden Globes - I'm doin' the SNOTW Movie Awards! I managed to see 63 movies this year in the theater. You can see a full list here. Now, it's only mid-December, so chances are that I will see at least one or two more before the end of the year, and in the beginning of January I'll publish a final list. But for now, these will be the movies I'm choosing from.
And the SNOTW Movie Award goes to....

Best Actress: Angelina Jolie in Changeling
Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood
Best Supporting Actress: Georgie Henley in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Best Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight
Comedy/Musical
Best Picture: I can't decide so it's a tie: Pineapple Express & Tropic Thunder
Best Actress: Frances McDormand in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day
Best Actor: Colin Farrell for In Bruge

The Best of the Rest
Best Action Sequence: The end of Wanted
Best Plot Twist: Charlize Theron's character in Hancock
Hottest Actress: Anne Hathaway in Get Smart
Hottest Actor: James McAvoy in Wanted/Atonement (sorry I am totally biased, and even if these movies hadn't had him being hot in them he might have won.
Hottest Kiss: Bella & Edward in Twilight (all about anticipation)
Actor Most Likely to Turn Your Husband Gay: Shia LaBeuof in Indiana Jones (according to a real live huband)
Actress Most Likely to Turn Your Wife Gay: Angelina Jolie in Changeling/Wanted (I don't generally find her hot, but her character in Changeling was so good, and in Wanted she was more normal than normally which I found appealing)
Oops...
Worst Picture: The Women (a remake that never needed to be made)
Worst Choice in Greenlighting a Movie: Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson for Mamma Mia!
Most Inappropriate Casting: Merryl Streep in Mamma Mia (she needed to be 20 years younger, or the daughter needed to be 20 years older)
Movie With the Most Potential That was Completely Screwed Up: Another tie - Indiana Jones & Jumper
Worst CGI: Max Payne (freaking snow/debris)
Most Gratituitous Violence: Doomsday
Most Unforgettable Moments:
- Bull Stampede in Australia

Wow. You did see alot of movies this year.
If I were to win, I would love "And the Band Played on". I love that movie!!
My favorite movie this year...I'd have to say Dark Knight. It was just way too frickin' awesome.
Least favorite...Twilight. I like it well enough but Kristen Stewart...ugh. The more I think about it, the more I hate her as Bella. She just sucked.
OMG. I don't even know where to begin.
I LOVED Dark Knight and Wanted. I love Angelina Jolie. She totally rocks my world. I haven't seen Changeling yet so I can't comment on that movie.
Least fave movie...can't think right now...will post that one later.
We don't get to see too many movies the year they are released, and when we do, they are kids movies. My favorites this year were:
Horton Hears a Who
Journey to the Center of the Earth. There are a TON of 2008 movies I'd like to see.
I also didn't like Twilight too much. The first half of the movie was waaaaay tooooo sloooooow.
I must say that I didn't notice the age difference between Meryl Streep & the girl who played her daughter in Mama Mia. Now that you mention it, it is an age stretch.
I was too busy paying painful attention to Pierce Brosnan who shall forever remain in my mind as "Handsome Guy With Worst Singing Voice Ever!"
That being said Mama Mia was my favorite movie of the year.
The worst I saw this year was The Love Guru. Painful!
Great giveaway!
My fave movies of the year are:
The Dark Knight ( LOVE LOVE LOVE Christian Bale ...and Heath Ledger was AWESOME)
Twilight
Lakeview Terrace
HSM3: Senior Year
The ones I didn't like are:
There Will Be Blood (I'm a big Daniel Day-Lewis fan, but I just didn't get this movie)
Narnia: Prince Caspian (ok movie, but I didn't like it as much as the 1st one... could've been due to the fact James McAvoy was not in it!)
Oooh.. tough decisions!
My favorite was WALL-E. The sheer cuteness!
Least favorite... probably what little I saw of The Love Guru.
Holy moly..did you ever see a tonne of movies. If only I had the time.
I have to say...I loved Mamma Mia..I thought it was fun and catchy.lol.
Least favourite.. umm Cloverfield..was that even this year..??
Wow, great contest! I saw one movie in the theater this year: Wall-E. Great movie. (Bed rest, twin boys, 3 year old big sister...no time for movies in the theater!)
I haven't seen any bad movies because frankly, the only one's I've seen I own besides Wall-E. *sigh* Am pathetic movie person. But I do love them!
Loved the Dark Knight and absolutely detested The Women...biggest waste of money I've spent all year!
I did not like Hancock, bad movie! My favorite was Horton Hears a Who - I really thought it was funny and though I'm not a Jim Carey fan, I really loved the movie. Still I loved Mama Mia and yeah there were werid things about it but still I own it.
I haven't had a chance to see as many movies as you..and I work at a movie theater! Go figure. I did however get to watch a few..
My favorite was Fireproof. Fantastic date movie! Funny, poignant and romatic. Great for couples in all stages of life.
I also liked The Dark Knight..Christian Bale is perfect as Batman and Heath Ledger was a very wicked Joker indeed.
My least favorite was Tropic Thunder..foul foul and not very funny.
Favorites - Atonement & Baby Mama
Least Favorites - Cloverfield & The Strangers
Found you through SITS! :o)
Hi! I found you through SITS! I have to admit, I'm a "wait for the DVD" kind of person lately. The only one I can comment on is "Momma Mia". I love just about any musical, so this one was a must see for me. That's about it....I wish had more to critique!
My least favorite was "Mama Mia" and I am so glad that you agree also. I dislike this movie so much I would rather hear the sound of nails scratching a chalkboard than hear another person sing in that movie.
Stopping by from SITS...great contest and I love the theme! My husband and I do not get to the movies very often, however, we did get to see Dark Knight and I absolutely LOVED it! My least favorite was Fred Claus...and I am a Christmas movie junkie, but this one was just terrible!
Stopping by from SITS and I would have to say WOW to your list of movies, you have seen a lot this year!! My favorite movie this year was The Secret Lives of Bees, I LOVED this movie!!!
From SITS.
I have a 2 year old and I saw 3 movies this year!
I really liked Twilight, but I am a huge fans of the books, and would have liked the movie no matter what ; )
Ok. I so need to win and here's why... I saw 1 movie this year. ONE. On my sister's birthday last January (it was 27 Dresses, I think) How sad is that?
I have no clue what most of those movies are you listed, although i think Australia looks fantastic!
Ahh, the life with 9 kids! I never go to the movies!
PS Popping over from SITS :)
OKAY, CLEARLY I NEED TO WIN...I'VE ONLY SEEN ONE OF THESE MOVIES THIS YEAR...VERY, VERY SAD. YOU'LL BE MORTIFIED TO KNOW THAT IT WAS INDIANA JONES. 'NUF SAID! COMING OVER FROM SITS!
I haven't seen as many as I would have liked but Prince Caspian (Narnia) would be high on my list for best picture. Even though I haven't managed to see them I'm sure Changeling and Australia rank high up there as well....I'm going to try and catch at least one movie this week!
This is so fun! I have to say I 100% agree with your choice for best actress - Angelina Jolie in The Changeling. What an incredible job she did! I wanted to write her a letter and tell her what a great job she did.
I think The Dark Knight though was my favorite flick I saw this year.
favorite movie Eagle Eye, worst movie Mobile Home Massacre!
favorite movie: twilight
least favorite: quaranteen
